How to Handle Honeymoon Problems

One of the first things you'll do together as a couple is go on your honeymoon. This is supposed to be a relaxing first trip to enjoy one another's company, but sometimes problems arise. This is your chance to step up and take care of your new wife! Here are the best tips for taking care of any honeymoon that arises so your honeymoon goes as smoothly as possible:

Be polite to staff members.

Even in the most frustrating situations, be polite to staff members as you're trying to sort out a mistake or issue. Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself, but you'll be amazed at just how much more quickly any problem will get solved if you say please and thank you. Remember, the person who is trying to help you has probably had an entire day of dealing with disgruntled travelers, so someone who smiles and is patient will be appreciated.

Print out copies of all of your receipts and other documents.

Your bride just spent months planning the details of your wedding – give her a break and take care of ensuring that you have all the confirmations you need for travel. That way, if your hotel reservation is lost, for example, you have proof of purchase and can deal with the problem quickly.

Carry some cash.

We tend to travel mainly with credit and debit cards, but sometimes a problem can be most quickly solved if you just have a few bucks on hand. Instead of having to find an ATM, carry a small amount of cash with you to use as needed. Cash is also great so you can tip service workers – don't start off your marriage by showing your wife how cheap you are!

Lastly, before you leave, consider purchasing travel insurance. If you have problems while traveling, your agent can help you book a new flight, find another hotel, or even provide cash if your wallet is stolen. It only costs a few extra bucks and is invaluable if you find yourself in a pinch!

Survey: Condoms and Underwear Named Among Strangest Wedding Gifts

A survey open to over 8000 couples has revealed some of the strangest gifts that guests bring to weddings. Among the most unusual gifts given in the survey, conducted by UK based gift website Engraved Gift Ideas were condoms, underwear, a salmon mold and a toilet roll holder.

The findings are part of a wider survey looking into the shopping habits of wedding guests and offer a unique insight into a wide variety of marital gift tables.

Here are some other tidbits from the survey:

  • 12% of guests do not take a gift to every wedding.
  • 40% of couples considered how much was spent on their wedding gift when returning the favor for other couples.
  • 92% of participants said they are not influenced by the size of the wedding when choosing their gift.
  • 53% of guests admitted that they are influenced by whether they are invited to the whole day or just the reception when hitting the shops.
  • 56% will stick to the wedding registry.
  • Most couples' favorite gift will be something that isn't on the registry at all.
  • 65% of couples said their favorite gift was something that they weren't expecting.

So what can we learn from these findings and how can it help us to decide what to buy for couples on their big day? Well, even if a look at the registry would indicate that an expensive gift is required, in reality a well thought out gift that is unique to their interests might well get a better response. Even homemade gifts will grab the attention, with one couple mentioning a scrap book of photographs as being one of their favourite gifts.

Wedding guests shouldn't be intimidated by the size of the wedding they are attending and especially in these tough economic times, not worry about spending a fortune. The best gift you can give is your attendance on such an important day, so don't spend too much time stressing about what wedding gift you bring.
